It is tempting to play the same game as your playing partners when it comes to distances and strategy, but being realistic will give you a chance at scoring better. If you are not exceptionally long, do not attempt to go for par-five holes in two shots. Lay-up safely and get on in three. Play long par-four holes as you would a par five.
Use the correct club for your distances rather than trying to hit what your partners are playing. The name of the game is scoring low, so forget matching distances with others. Focus on having a great short game around the greens and think wisely on your course strategy.
